A few weeks ago we decided to take a trip to the city to enjoy a bit of art and culture……………..and hopefully get some inspiration. After work that Friday we decided to go and see the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Being back in Detroit felt amazing and the day was absolutely beautiful. The energy of the city was fresh, upbeat, and inspiring!
We were not allowed to take any photos inside the exhibit, but let me just say, it was amazing. We felt so many emotions walking through the exhibit ranging from sadness to joy and even outrage. We learned so much about those brilliant artists, their craft, and their struggles in about and hour and half and i’m sure there is much more to know. We went the last weekend of the exhibit, but if it comes back, i’m sure we will go again.
After the exhibit we went to the Diego Courtyard in the DIA and took a few photos of the murals he was commissioned to paint while he was here. Every time I see the murals I always find something new and after the learning new information from the exhibit they have a whole new meaning.
We kept our outfits pretty casual and cute. Char wore denim on denim with a stud embellished snapback and a “tribal” statement necklace. I wore a striped crop top with a black sheer maxi skirt and Converse sneakers. Aleesa wore a red dress with a cute black and gold bow belt. Check out our looks below.
